He is a Yamaha-endorsed artist. A Toledo, Ohio native, Fuller began his musical studies at age 11, immediately showing an extraordinary aptitude for jazz. By age 13, Floyd “Candy” Johnson, a veteran of the Count Basie and Duke Ellington Orchestras, took Fuller under his wing, hiring him for regular paying gigs. In his early years, Fuller became a mainstay on the Midwest jazz circuit, performing frequently in Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan. At 23 years old, Fuller’s undeniable talent earned him the position of musical director and pianist for Grammy-nominated vocal giant Ernestine Anderson. He later went on to perform with renowned drummer Jeff Hamilton’s Trio and legendary bassist Ray Brown’s Trio. Of Fuller, Ray Brown said: “He brings vitality – he swings hard and I like that!”. Fuller also toured and recorded with guitar-vocal great John Pizzarelli. Harnessing his unique pedigree of bandstand experience, Fuller now leads The Larry Fuller Trio. He presents a musical program rarely experienced live today, consistently praised for his emotive, swinging style, monster technique, and program versatility. From bop, to stride, to swing, to blues – Larry Fuller’s live performances are not to be missed! Fuller has recorded on Pony Boy and Capri Records. On Capri, he released critically acclaimed album “Larry Fuller” in 2013 and “Overjoyed” in 2019. Both albums were Top-10 on the National Jazz Radio charts for nearly 6 months each.
