Music is magic. It has the power to open up the soul and communicate in a way that transcends all language.
Jennifer Fuentes follows the mantra “whatever makes your soul happy, do that”. For Jennifer that has always been music. She’s followed her passion and it has taken her amazing places – including the Live Music Capital of the World.
Living and working in Austin, TX is every singer/songwriter’s dream. Jennifer made that dream a reality a few years ago . . . it’s proven to be one of the best decisions of her life.
“You can feel it, feel it, feel it . . . Trust me you will know.”
During season two of “American Idol” Jennifer used her raw, natural talent to become one of the top 32 finalists. It was a dream so many musicians have but few get to experience. Soon after she got the opportunity to hone her center stage skills as the singing ringleader for the legendary Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Jennifer is honored to have been the first woman in history to say “welcome to the greatest show on earth.”
Jennifer is a true chameleon when it comes to cover songs, which helped her land the role of lead singer for Sauce the Band when she ventured to Austin. The extremely popular group is known for spot-on covers that Jennifer lent her vocals to no matter what genre it was.
But it’s her own unique voice that shines through in Jennifer’s original tracks. Being in Austin has been nothing short of inspirational for Jennifer. She’s matured as an artist and taken on the most important role in her life – being a mother.
Tracks like the recently released “Afterlife” showcase Jennifer’s talent as a songwriter that can craft vibrant music you can’t help moving to and being moved by. She pairs her Cuban roots and pop music expertise with a laidback Austin vibe for a sound that’s all her own. Jennifer has gracefully transitioned from perfectly executing cover songs to creating her own music that’s just as memorable.
“If you can't make others smile or make a difference while you work, then what's the point?”
For Jennifer, making the world a better place starts with where you live. She’s enthusiastically immersed herself in the Austin community, becoming a well-known part of the local music scene and beyond. From playing regular gigs at Truluck’s Downtown to collaborating with local artists on multimedia projects to hosting Big Review TV – you’ll find Jennifer all over the city.
Now that Jennifer is the new reigning Ms. Texas you can expect to see a lot more of her all over the Lone Star State!
She also believes in supporting and collaborating with her fellow local artists. On stage she works with veterans like two-time Grammy winner Carlos Sosa, and off stage she can be found working on creative pieces with the likes of muralist Chris Rogers.
If you’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing Jennifer perform at venues across Austin, then you probably already know a little bit about what inspires her music and life. The way that she opens up to the audience you’d never guess that when Jennifer steps away from the microphone she’s somewhat shy.
For Jennifer, performing in a small, intimate setting is just as exhilarating as taking the stage in front of hundreds of fans. In fact, it was the small shows that used to intimidate Jennifer at the start of her career. Now, she loves getting the opportunity to connect with her audience at intimate shows and private events.
Living in Austin has also given Jennifer the opportunity to spread her wings as a host and spokesperson. In her role as a presenter of Review TV she’s gotten to explore many local businesses and loves being able to share their stories with the world.
